Breeder Terms & Conditions

By creating a breeder account or publishing any listing on Pawthentic Pedigree, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Breeder Terms & Conditions.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not register as a breeder or advertise on the platform.

To register as a breeder you must:

• be at least 18 years of age
• be legally resident in the United Kingdom
• have the legal right to breed and advertise the cats you list
• comply with all applicable UK laws, including the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and any local licensing requirements

Where a licence is required by your local authority (for example under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018), you are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining that licence.

Breeders may apply for verification by submitting supporting documentation, which may include proof of identity, proof of address, cattery or registry membership, and health testing certificates.

Verification is at the sole discretion of Pawthentic Pedigree.

Verified status indicates that documentation has been reviewed at a point in time. It is not:

• a veterinary endorsement
• a government or local authority licence
• a guarantee of the health, temperament or pedigree of any individual cat
• a warranty of any transaction between a breeder and a buyer

Every listing must:

• describe the cat accurately, including breed, age, sex and availability
• use genuine, recent photographs owned by the breeder or used with permission
• state pricing clearly in pounds sterling (£)
• disclose known health conditions and any relevant registration details
• comply with UK advertising standards and consumer protection legislation

Breeders are responsible for keeping listings up to date and removing them once a cat is no longer available.

Breeders must accurately record any health tests carried out on parent cats, including but not limited to PKDef, SMA, HCM, FIV, FeLV, Heart Scan and Hip X-ray, where applicable to the breed.

Only tests that have actually been performed may be selected. Misrepresenting health testing is a serious breach of these Terms and may result in immediate removal of the listing or account.

Health test badges displayed on listings are provided for information only and do not constitute a veterinary guarantee.

Breeders must at all times prioritise the welfare of the cats in their care and comply with the five welfare needs set out in the Animal Welfare Act 2006:

• a suitable environment
• a suitable diet
• the ability to exhibit normal behaviour patterns
• housing with, or apart from, other animals as appropriate
• protection from pain, suffering, injury and disease

Kittens must not be advertised as available to leave their mother before an appropriate age, and in any event not before 13 weeks unless clearly stated as a reservation.

Stud services must only be offered by breeders who have appropriate facilities, experience and, where required, veterinary and licensing arrangements.

Stud listings must clearly state:

• the stud's breed, colour and registration status
• required health tests for visiting queens
• any conditions relating to hygiene, isolation or vaccination
• stud fees and what they include

Breeders remain responsible for any arrangements made with the owners of visiting queens.

Listings must not:

• advertise non-pedigree cats as pedigree
• misrepresent breed, age, health or registration status
• use images that are not owned by the breeder or licensed for use
• contain offensive, discriminatory or misleading language
• promote unlawful breeding practices or the sale of animals in breach of UK law
• include contact details that circumvent the platform's enquiry system in a way that facilitates fraud

Access to certain features is provided through subscription plans (currently Starter, Founding Breeder and Elite Breeder). Features and limits are described on the Pricing page.

Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Recurring charges continue until the subscription is cancelled. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; part-period refunds are not generally provided except where required by law.

Pawthentic Pedigree may change plan features or pricing from time to time. Where changes affect an active subscription, reasonable notice will be given.

Pawthentic Pedigree may offer selected breeders complimentary or discounted access to paid features on a beta basis.

Beta access:

• is granted at our sole discretion
• is time-limited and may be extended, reduced or withdrawn at any time
• does not create any right to ongoing free access
• is separate from, and does not modify, any paid Stripe subscription

We may remove, hide or edit any listing that we consider, acting reasonably, to be inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, unsafe or otherwise in breach of these Terms.

Where practical, we will notify the breeder and give them an opportunity to correct the issue. In cases involving suspected fraud, animal welfare concerns or legal risk, we may remove listings immediately without prior notice.

Breeder accounts may be set to one of the following states:

• Active — visible to the public and able to publish listings in line with the subscription plan
• Hidden — the breeder profile and listings are not shown on public surfaces, but data is retained and the breeder retains access to their dashboard
• Suspended — the breeder cannot publish new listings or receive enquiries; listings are not shown publicly
• Removed — the account and associated listings are deleted, subject to any legal record-keeping obligations

Accounts may be hidden, suspended or removed where a breeder breaches these Terms, fails to respond to reasonable requests, or where required by law.

Breeders retain ownership of the photographs, text and other content they upload.

By uploading content, breeders grant Pawthentic Pedigree a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, resize and promote that content for the purposes of operating and marketing the platform.

All Pawthentic Pedigree branding, logos, design and software remain the property of Pawthentic Pedigree.

Pawthentic Pedigree is an advertising platform. We are not a party to any sale, reservation, stud arrangement or other agreement between a breeder and a buyer or another breeder.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pawthentic Pedigree is not liable for:

• the health, temperament, pedigree or conduct of any cat advertised on the platform
• the accuracy of information provided by breeders
• any loss arising from a transaction between users
• any indirect, consequential or purely economic loss

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

We may update these Breeder Terms & Conditions from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

Where changes are material, we will use reasonable efforts to notify active breeders by email or in-dashboard notice. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Pawthentic Pedigree reserves the right to request updated documentation, health test results, registration certificates or other supporting evidence at any time. Failure to provide requested documentation within a reasonable timeframe may result in listings or breeder profiles being hidden or removed until verification is completed.
